Northumberland gets a serious new spa address this September. Matfen Hall opens Aurelius on 15 September, bringing hydrotherapy, thermal bathing and advanced wellness into its Grade II listed estate. An 18-metre pool, Jacuzzi, ice bath, experience showers and steam showers form the water circuit, joined by Himalayan salt and traditional saunas plus an aromatherapy steam room. Outside, a vitality pool and sensory garden extend the spa into the estate landscape.
The offer goes further than a conventional country-house spa. Cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen and red-light therapy sit alongside massages and facials, while dedicated spa dining keeps lunch and lighter dishes within the experience. For a Northumberland weekend, Aurelius now gives Matfen Hall a compelling reason to stay longer.
