The coats can come off at Bingham Riverhouse. The Richmond hotel’s infrared sauna brings gentle radiant heat to an autumn afternoon, courtesy of bhuti. Infrared warms the body directly, rather than relying on hot air alone. The sauna uses near, mid and far infrared wavelengths, with sessions lasting 30 or 60 minutes.
A half-hour session costs £50, while a full hour is £75. Stay for lunch at the Riverhouse Restaurant, where chef Vanessa Marx’s seasonal menus draw on local produce and foraged ingredients. There’s a Sunday roast, too, if you’d like to make a weekend of it.
