Tom Hamblet won BBC MasterChef: The Professionals in 2023, though the real reason to book The Avenue is what he serves as a main course.
The eight-course tasting menu, priced at £125, gives diners a choice between venison loin and turbot with Romanesco cauliflower, leek and Ridgeview sauce. Turbot rarely appears on menus in Hampshire, and Hamblet’s version has become the dish reviewers ask for by name.
Every course draws from Lainston House‘s own kitchen garden, down to the herb butter served with the opening brioche.
Guests can also book the six seat Chef’s Table, watching each course prepared inside The Avenue’s kitchen.
