The Spy Room at Durrants is a place to host a cocktail reception, though its name has nothing to do with espionage. One wall is covered in Vanity Fair caricatures by Sir Leslie Ward, who signed his work “Spy”. The room also has a private champagne bar and space for up to 50 guests.
It’s a good reason to look beyond the usual Marylebone drinks reservation when planning a gathering. Durrants has been part of the neighbourhood since 1789, and the cartoons give the room a story guests can see for themselves. Ask about the Spy Room when booking a private reception; the artwork deserves a closer look.
