The Orangery at The Zetter Bloomsbury turns a Georgian conservatory once used for growing citrus trees into Bloomsbury’s must-book Afternoon Tea, served daily from 12.30pm beneath a glass roof filled with plants and wicker chairs. Doors open onto a walled garden that backs directly onto the British Museum, turning a single sitting into one of London’s more memorable afternoons.
Coronation chicken and Chapel & Swan smoked salmon sandwiches arrive first, followed by homemade scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve, then pastries such as lemon drizzle cake and a chocolate délice with salted caramel. A glass of Lanson champagne and a pot from eleven Newby’s teas round out the sitting.
